Group Dynamics of Charleston
Event Sampling
Event Costume Parties
Quite often we carry the historic theme throughout an event by outfitting our guests in luxurious colonial period costumes. Horse-drawn carriages arrive to take us on a journey "back in time". From silver candelabras and engraved mint julep cups to authentic Baroque music by the Charleston Chamber Society, every detail of the evening showcases Charleston's rich and colorful history.
Event Legend of Bagger Vance
Imagine stepping out of a handsome 1930s Rolls Royce onto Kiawah Island's perfectly manicured Grand Lawn. Awaiting you is a uniquely Charleston welcome as we re-create the set of The Legend of Bagger Vance. The Grand Lawn is set with white lawn chairs and tables dressed in sporty navy plaid linens with silver trophy cup centerpieces of cascading florals and ivy. A small fleet of antique cars will be on display at the edge of the dunes. Guests are invited to experience some nostalgia by trying their hands at badminton or croquet. Experts, in period costume of course, will be on hand to make everyone look accomplished. The music of Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, and other period jazz musicians completes the evening as Joe Clarke’s 17-piece Big Band entertains you in their finest black and whites.
Event Café Des Artistes and Dinner at the Gibbes Museum of Art
This event follows the theme of the venue itself, the Gibbes Museum of Art – Charleston’s Premier Art Destination. The contemporary and expansive courtyard affords a modern and artistic evening café feel while the traditional interior provides the perfect backdrop for an elegant dinner. Mannequins as “Live Art”, appear inside suspended 8’ gold frames along the edges of the party.
Event Historic Dinner Theater
We enjoy an excellent relationship with South Carolina’s leading actors guild, and as such, provide top quality dinner theatre at a variety of private historic venues in the city.
Our guests are often greeted by the ghost of Mary Boykin Chestnut (seen here), one of the most fascinating personalities of the Civil War. Her brilliant mind won the Pulitzer Prize in 1982 for her book, “Mary Chestnut’s Civil War.” She is the most quoted person in Ken Burns acclaimed documentary, “Civil War.”
The performance, based on these diaries will fascinate everyone –
What the generals wouldn’t tell you, MARY WILL!
Event Boone Hall
Prepare to be amazed as you make your way towards "America's most photographed plantation" through a majestic corridor of centuries-old Black Oaks. Not to be outdone by this grand entry, a magnificent sunset over the lowcountry marsh provides a breath-taking backdrop for any event. At the Cotton Dock House, try your hand at shucking oysters or make your way through an elaborate buffet of Southern Specialties. Bring this evening on the plantation to a close sipping sweet tea in a rocking chair overlooking the moonlit river.
Event Dinner at South Carolina Society Hall
The South Carolina Society was first organized in 1737, benevolent association established schools for orphans and indigent children. The Society now donates scholarships to the College of Charleston. The Society still uses the Hall, along with the St. Andrew's Society. Upon arrival guests are greeted by the house historian who gives everyone a brief history of this impressive building and its colorful society. Dinner is served in the grand ballroom with its ornate moldings, fireplaces, columns, and chandeliers. A classical or jazz quartet plays alongside the grand piano as everyone is served a splendid meal in an even more splendid setting.
Event An Evening at the Old Exchange Building
Our guests arrive at the foot of the historic market and board horse-drawn carriages for a half-hour journey “back in time” along Charleston’s charming cobblestone streets and alleys. Upon arrival you are greeted at the front by colonial costumed docents and are given a brief history of the Exchange and its place in American history. A visit to the Provost Dungeon, where patriots and pirates once spent time in chains is the highlight of this evening. One of this country's finest examples of Palladian architecture, the Old Exchange Building has always been a flashpoint for Charleston's history. The Exchange Building remains one of the three most significant buildings left by the British in America.
Event Evening Dinner Cruise
There’s no better way to experience Charleston and her history than from the deck of a Spirit Line yacht. The Spirit of Carolina offers Charleston’s most unique dining experience. Nowhere else will you find our combination of sumptuous cuisine, attentive service and spectacular harbor views. Enjoy an unforgettable three hour cruise and breathtaking views of Charleston Harbor, as you savor a three-course gourmet meal (prepared to order), table-side service, your favorite beverage and live entertainment.
Event 1930s Era Hollywood Supper Club
Lights… Camera… Glitzy Hollywood Action a la 1930. Exit your hotel and enter stage right a set that would make Ingrid Bergman feel right at home.
Black and white never looked as good as on a glossy tiled dance floor with a 17-piece big band setting the night to music. Forget the movies. BE Humphrey Bogart as you prop against the chrome standing cocktail tables and fill your martini glass from a carved ice luge. You’ll look like a star with lighted Casablanca lilies as your backdrop.
The wait staff will treat you like silver screen royalty as they serve a formal French dinner. After that? You don’t want the evening to end. So make it a fade-out finale on the moon-lit veranda with a mellow cigar and cordials.
Event Tropical Oasis
There's a reason the word "tropical" is often followed by the word "paradise." What else would you call a slice of heaven abounding with exotic flowers, punctuated with the irresistible sounds of steel drums and softened by balmy breezes?

Tables topped with cheerful Casablanca Linens. An antique wooden boat brimming with tropical flowers and lit by floating candles. Thatched roof bars and large ice vases overflowing with orchids, Protea and birds of paradise on each buffet.

As they step into the tropical delight, guests will be given a lei made of real orchids and served their choice of fruity specialty cocktails under a canopy of trees a twinkle with lights. They can order from a menu customized to suit your group, and they can settle back at any time during the evening with a Robusto or Churchill cigar hand-rolled for them on an antique mahogany table by a professional cigar roller.

The only danger of this evening is that guests might have withdrawal pains when it ends.
